VIDEO: Interview with CAA Baseball Player of the Week Payton Frehner
For the week, Frehner hit .529 (9-for-17) while racking up eight runs, a double, two bombs, and seven RBIs, all good for an insanely impressive 1.520 OPS.
College of Charleston first baseman Payton Frehner has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week after a monster performance at the plate. The dude from Wisconsin—who has forearms the size of my thighs—put on an absolute show this past week. Frehner played a pivotal role in leading the Cougars to three wins, including a dominant 15-5 run-rule victory over Coastal Carolina and a series win against Seton Hall.
For the week, Frehner hit .529 (9-for-17) while racking up eight runs, a double, two bombs, and seven RBIs, all good for an insanely impressive 1.520 OPS. Things got silly on Saturday against Seton Hall, when he went 4-for-5 with three RBIs—then casually kept it rolling on Sunday, launching a three-run homer in the first inning. No big-game hangover for Payton.
Before joining the College of Charleston, Frehner dominated at Madison College, earning two-time All-Conference honors and making an NJCAA D2 World Series appearance in both 2023 and 2024.
