The Lady Cougs Are Dancing: CofC Hosts WNIT Second Round Monday at 7 PM
Basketball season continues on George Street
The College of Charleston Women’s Basketball team is back in action—and back in the postseason spotlight—as they host a second-round WNIT matchup this Monday night at 7 PM inside TD Arena. Their opponent: Howard University, fresh off a first-round win. The stakes: another banner, more history, and a chance to keep this record-breaking ride alive.
It’s been a season to remember for Coach Robin Harmony and the Cougs. Led by CAA Player of the Year Taryn Barbot, her dynamic twin sister Taylor Barbot, and dominant center Lara Rohkel, this squad has put together the most successful campaign in program history. The Cougars went 24-7 overall, breaking the school record for regular season wins and finishing second in the conference standings.
Their offensive firepower has been undeniable—74.9 points per game, paired with a relentless effort on the glass (40.2 RPG) and sharp ball movement (13.5 APG). But what truly sets this team apart is their signature full-court press, a suffocating, high-energy defense that they run all game long. It’s chaotic, it’s thrilling, and it’s incredibly effective—forcing opponents into constant mistakes, rushed decisions, and a wave of turnovers. Simply put: it’s exciting basketball.
After a hard-fought battle in the conference tournament that ended in a heartbreaking semifinal loss to Campbell, the Cougs are not ready for this ride to end. They earned a first-round bye in the WNIT and now have the chance to take the next step—on their home court, in front of their fans.
This team deserves a packed house. They’ve made history and shown the country what this program is capable of. Now they’re chasing one more milestone: a WNIT championship.
TD Arena. Monday night. 7 PM. Admission is free to the public. Let’s pack the house and support the Lady Cougs as they chase another banner.
