Something Special is Happening with CofC Women’s Basketball
The Cougars are stacking wins, making noise in the CAA, and putting themselves in position for a historic postseason run. It’s time to start paying attention.
The College of Charleston Women’s Basketball team is rolling—and they might just be on the verge of something special. Under Head Coach Robin Harmony, the Lady Cougars are putting together one of the best seasons in program history. And with the CAA Tournament right around the corner, they’re in the hunt for their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
This squad has talent, momentum, and a legit shot to make history.
A Season to Remember
As of February 26, 2025, the Lady Cougars are 18-6 overall and 9-4 in CAA play, sitting near the top of the conference. They’re getting it done on both ends, averaging 72.9 points per game on offense while holding teams to just 54.6 points per game—one of the best defensive marks in the country.
The wins are piling up. The confidence is high. But the biggest games of the season are still ahead.
Meet the Stars of the Show
This team has a deep roster, but here are a few players who have been leading the charge:
Taryn Barbot (SO, Guard)
14.6 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.5 APG
The team’s go-to scorer and one of the best rebounding guards in the CAA.
Taylor Barbot (SO, Guard)
11.8 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 4.2 APG
Runs the show as the team’s top playmaker, but she can fill it up, too.
Lara Rohkohl (JR, Center)
9.8 PPG, 9.5 RPG
The anchor in the paint—dominates the glass and protects the rim.
McKinley Brooks-Sumpter (SR, Guard)
8.9 PPG, 4.1 RPG
A veteran leader who does a little bit of everything.

The Robin Harmony Effect
This program has come a long way under Head Coach Robin Harmony, and this season feels like the payoff.
A Miami Hurricanes Hall of Famer, Harmony was the first women’s basketball player inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame back in 1997. She scored over 1,300 points, pulled down 750 rebounds, and racked up 445 assists during her college career.
After 18 seasons coaching at Miami (12 as associate head coach), she went on to win conference championships as a head coach at St. Thomas and Lamar. Since taking over at CofC in 2019, she’s built a tough, defensive-minded team that competes every night.
Now, she’s got the Cougars in position to do something this program has never done before.
What’s Next?
With four games left, the Cougars are right where they need to be—in the mix for a CAA title run and, potentially, a historic NCAA Tournament berth.
But nothing is guaranteed.
The final stretch will determine seeding for the CAA Tournament, where CofC will need to put together its best basketball of the season to punch its ticket to March Madness.
It’s been a season of progress, led by a balanced roster and a head coach who knows how to win.
No matter what happens, the program is on the rise—and it’s time for you to pay attention.
