The first career complete game for junior Jake Brink came last Friday, against Monmouth. Arguably the best outing of his career came in a clutch moment for not only himself, but his team as well. Not allowing a single free pass over 105 pitches, Brink surrendered eight hits, only giving up one run and six strikeouts over his nine inning gem.
His calling card has been his efficiency throughout his tenure with the Cougs. It’s just the second time in his collegiate career he has gone an entire start with out walking or hitting a batter. The last time came on March 23rd of 2024, where he went 8 innings against NC A&T. So the recipe is clear, no free ninety’s and we get a whole lot more of one of the best Friday night arms in the CAA.
For Brink, a Whitestone, New York native, this game also served as a bit of a homecoming. With friends and family in the building he saved his best collegiate start for the closest outing in proximity of where he grew up. Graduating from the Salisbury School, in Connecticut, Brink made his arrival back to the northeast felt in a major way. Ranked as D1 Baseball’s number four ranked prospect in the CAA and the 40th ranked starting pitcher in the country, Brink has primed the College of Charleston every Friday night for the past two seasons.
Simply put, Brink is a dog. The cougs currently sitting tied for third place in the conference and in any postseason setting will feel good about their number one horse toe the rubber.
