College of Charleston Women’s Golf Captures CAA Championship
The College of Charleston Women’s Golf team has captured the CAA Championship, marking the program’s third title in the last four seasons and its sixth overall since joining the conference in 2013.
Guided by longtime head coach Jamie Futrell, the Cougars entered championship weekend ranked No. 43 nationally. The roster featured a talented lineup of Molly Hardwick, Adrian Anderson, Emma Schimpf, Emilie von Finckenstein, and Emilia von Glahn—each of whom played a pivotal role in securing the title.
The tournament teed off on Friday, and Charleston made an immediate impact. By the end of day one, the Cougars were tied for the top spot, leading the field in Par 3 and Par 5, scoring and recording a tournament-best 18 birdies. Notably, Charleston was the only team with all five golfers in the top 20. Molly Hardwick stood out as the lone player in the field to shoot under par on the opening day, finishing with an impressive -1.
Charleston maintained its momentum in Saturday’s second round, holding its position atop the leaderboard while increasing its birdie total to 29. Hardwick continued her strong play, leading the field in Par 3 scoring. Emma Schimpf and Emilia von Glahn each tallied three birdies, while Adrian Anderson notched four birdies and dominated the Par 5s to lead the field in that category.
The Cougars’ consistency and depth set the stage for a dominant final round on Sunday. Charleston clinched the CAA Championship with a three-stroke victory over runner-up UNCW. Three Cougars finished in the top ten individually—Emma Schimpf placed 7th, Molly Hardwick secured 4th, and Adrian Anderson earned an impressive 2nd-place finish. Anderson also led all players in Par five scoring throughout the tournament.
Charleston closed out the weekend with a tournament-best 42 birdies and the top team performance on Par five holes, further cementing their status as the class of the field.
With the CAA Championship victory, the Cougars earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Regional, where they will look to build on their success and compete for a spot in the NCAA Championship with a national title on the line.
