CofC Women's Golf Team Continues to Roll
Cougs finish in Second Place at the Daniel Island Invitational
The College of Charleston Women’s Golf Team has been on an incredible journey, with their latest performance at the Daniel Island Invitational proving just how far they've come. A remarkable 2nd-place finish, just three strokes behind champions NC State, has further solidified their place among the top teams in the country.
Throughout the competition, the Cougars led the field in several key categories, including par-four scoring (3.98), par-five scoring (4.80), and total birdies (52). Their collective strength and consistency were evident, as they consistently put themselves in positions to succeed in a highly competitive field.
Individually, multiple players made their mark. Adrian Anderson, who finished tied for 10th at -4, Emma Schimpf, who took 7th place with a -5, and Molly Hardwick, who earned a 5th-place finish with a brilliant -6 performance, all delivered remarkable rounds.
Looking back on the season, the Cougars have already had an exceptional run. In the fall, they captured three straight tournament victories—at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational, the Evie Odom Invitational, and the Edisto Island Invitational—demonstrating their dominance and depth. That momentum seamlessly transitioned into the spring season, where they kicked things off with a solid 10th-place finish at the PDI Intercollegiate. But they didn’t stop there—at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational, they surged to a 4th-place finish, further reinforcing their status as one of the nation’s top teams. Emma Schimpf’s CAA Golfer of the Week honors after that event highlighted the impressive individual performances fueling the team’s success.
The Cougars are primed for even more significant achievements as the spring continues, with the Briar’s Creek Invitational on the horizon (March 10th-11th). The future is incredibly bright for the College of Charleston Women’s Golf Team, and fans can expect more championship-caliber performances in the weeks ahead as they compete for a CAA Title.
